That's the first album The Beatles made after Bob Dylan turned them on to pot. It was a marked difference in musical style. Basically it's the album that killed the first Beatle era of crap like Love Me Do and She Loves You. The next album after that ( Revolver) was after they dropped acid.

Hell son, IIRC, I was already in and almost out of the service when Dylan came along. Although I was primarily country I did like a few outside the genre. Dylan, Joplin, Moody Blues, CCR, and especially the Doors. Didn't like all their stuff, but some of it was really an ear catcher.
Actually during my stint in the Navy was when my conversion from RnR to country began I think. After I married in 1969, was when I was completely converted to country since my new bride was hard core country.
