Prodigy issues

Finally got to shoot my Prodigy 5inch barrel. Before shooting I cleaned the entire thing, oiled it and racked the slide a bunch since I gotten it. Seems like a lot of people recommend that on Youtube.

Went through 250 rounds of PMC Bronze 124 grain. 0 issues. Shot like a dream. I couldn't believe how nice it shot. Only issue I had was powder reside getting Hex Dragonfly dirty. Had to clean it towards the end. I haven't had that issues with any of my pistols with red dot.

We shall see as I continue to shoot it. Maybe I will also face issues. Hope not.
Get used to your red dot getting hazed. The loaded chamber indicator in the top of the barrel is the cause. You’ll have to wait for Springfield to do what Sig did with the X5Legion and give everyone a free barrel without the LCI. It was a dumb idea, that’s what press checks are for.

just to add to this, I didn't do any modifications. Everything is stock. I didn't mess with the magazine. I didn't do anything but clean and oil the gun. Rack the slide bunch of times and dry fire it before going to the range. I did order a 12lb spring just to see the difference. I will report back after it gets in and I get to shoot it.
You did what most experienced gun owners do. I’m convinced that if more people had done this rather than just take the gun out of the box and start shooting there would have been far less issues.

I usually do this to all the guns I buy, but seems like a lot of people on Youtube really stressed doing this on the Prodigy. I think the only ones I didn't clean and oil was my Glock 43 and HK VP9. But, Glocks are Glocks and the VP9 seems to just shoot consistent no matter if I cleaned or not.

The issue with the prodigy is the mags, check out our report video:
Truly wondering if most of the issues are with the mags.

This isn't the first video I've seen where someone says different mags work fine.
Also seen vids of people 'fixing' their Duramags and or smoothing the feed lips out and then they work flawlessly with no more failures.

I'm leaning towards the mags being an issue for perhaps at least -half-, maybe more of the people who experienced failures.

Got my Prodigy and only dry fired it a few times over a few days and I noticed the right sided ambi safety lever was floating freely on its own. I’m assuming whatever connects the two sides of the safety is broken or disconnected. I emailed warranty service a few days ago and no response yet. This is incredibly disappointing.

If you call them around 9:30am you will talk to someone in about 5 minutes or less.

Get it tig welded then countered back down. Should not take much to close the gap.

You can probably snap it back together yourself. Or check. Take off the slide. Leave hammer cooked. Set the left safety between fire and safe. Pull it out, rotate the right safety up and out of the groove and pull it out and have a look.
Thank you sir. I followed your instructions. I pulled out the right side safety lever and the groove looked okay. I lined it up with the tongue on the left side, vieweable through the hole, and shoved it back as hard as i could and it seemed to engage, so the safety levers work now. I'm not sure what should be used to compress the two sides together.

They should just snap together and there should be an audible/tactile snap. Just line them up like you did. The left side can't come out unless pulled between fire and safe and the right is held in place by the groove for the tab.

I definitely noticed an audible/tactile snap like you described. I went out and shot the gun this morning and put 50 rounds of cheap Remington through it without a single malfunction. I absolutely love shooting it and it's incredibly accurate. Unfortunately, I got home and while dry firing it again, noticed that the right safety lever started floating on its own again. I suspect its going to need a more permanent fix.

I'd be curious which one you ordered. I received a #13 recoil spring (link) from WC a few days ago, and couldn't get it on the rod at all. It clearly had a tighter inner diameter than the stock spring on my Prodigy.

The pn is 10G13. The spring in the package is the stock spring from my Prodigy.

Yeah had no issues installing it. If there is something specific that you would like checked I can take it back apart to supply pictures and part numbers if needed.
Are you talking about a flat wire spring?

Sorry, jumped the gun, just saw your picture. I believe the flat wire spring does not fit. Yours is fine.
