How tough is a full grown hog.. around 300lbs…
Took 3 shots of .300 BO vitals area on a night hunt with thermals.
Flopping around making a fuss and then went silent.
Buddy went to ensure it was down/deceased.
It stood up alert when he was close.
Took a full 15 round mag of 9mm to drop it back down. … and then some
He is switching to a larger caliber back up pistol like we all told him before to do so.

Don't think so but luck of the draw it lived. Check this video out I found while researching the SIG Rattler and the 5.5"bbl many say can't do it.... Well it did, suppressed nonetheless and dropped that boar DRT. Not close either given the circumstances. Ammo selection is big with . 300 I hear.

I prefer fmj when killing those crop and pasture damaging sos! I'm getting closer on using 300gr fmj from a 338lm just to get a 1 shot 40 kill

.300BO is just fine. They can be tough SOB’s.
I had many take several .308 rounds and get away./
I’ve had many succumb to my sons 5.56 with 1 shot when he was little.

I have a neighbor who hunts hogs at night exclusively with a suppressed 300blk. At last count he had killed 64 of those vermin.

A question I thought I'd ask is, what bullet style do anyone that have shot hogs use? Over the last 45 years all I've used is m193 that has 55gr fmj.

.308 in 150-175 gr range depending on sales
5.56 in 62 gr.
Higher gr than 62 gets to expensive
