Show off your 1911

My wife overhead me talking with a couple of friends over for a BBQ. We are all older now, and have been collecting and selling handguns all our adult lives. One friend observed that we have all bought handguns over time that were almost what we wanted, but we didn't get exactly what we wanted even though that probably would have been cheaper. If we sold three or four of the "almost" guns, we could get EXACTLY what we wanted. We all laughed, but my wife heard the truth. So for my birthday that year I got the 1911 I wanted since I first started reading about handguns in the mid/late 70's. I can't overstate the importance of finding the right wife!

A lifelong friend of mine has a son...I don't have any kids, so I am the Dutch Uncle. Anyway, I told him to buy a Garrison in Blue. (I am old enough to still look at stainless with slanted eyes...early galling of stainless still haunts my memory) Basically every person in the Country needs a 1911. Period. If you are only going to have one gun, that is the answer. Some around the campfire will argue for the 12 gauge shotgun for the "one gun" discussion, but one can't carry that for self defense. The 1911 is the answer...and Springfield makes it. If you lean towards target shooting, the Range Officer is the answer. I say this after a lifetime of shooting/collecting and for 21 years I made my living in the shooting industry. I started with Colts and switched to Springfield. They are that good!
