Suppressor Question

OK, here's where I sit in the process now. I'm a little concerned about my LGS being up on this whole "efile" thing. So, I want to make sure things progress as they should.

I did the docu-sign thing. My current status shows this - "Current Stage: Form 4 (Single Shot): Customer Signatures Complete - Awaiting Form 3 Approval". And my timeline shows the next step is "Ready to Certify" in white, not green.

Is the certification waiting for my dealer to certify, or is there something I need to do? Will I get an email to go certify with my dealer? I'm just a little weary that SS will send my dealer an email and they'll just sit on it since last I talked to them, they said they really weren't set up for all this.

My plan is, when it's the appropriate time, I'll go over there and see if I can't get them to get set up and be their guinea pig. But I don't want to go over there and push it before its t

As for the ready to certify status you should be able to reach out to your local Silencer Shop dealer and schedule a time to go in to certify. The process is basically a background check done online. You local dealer should have all the software needed from Silencer Shop to get this done for you and if all else fails contact Silencer Shop and let them know what you are dealing with locally and I'm sure they will either reach out to their dealer network to help you out.

A lot of dealers are unfamiliar with the new E-Form process and it will take a few months to bring them up to speed from what I'm being told by my LGS.

You mentioned form 4 and Form 3 in your post. Are you buying a new suppressor or did you inherit one? A Form 3 is for a tax exempt transfer.

I copied the line with both forms mentioned directly off my status page on SS. I'm not sure why they mentioned both, I purchased a new suppressor.

So, even though my status changed with the "documents signed" approved just like yesterday, would the dealer have the request from SS already? Or is there something that the dealer needs to do before I get an email from SS to go to the dealer to certify?

Form 4 cannot be filed by your LGS until they have your suppressor. The serial number of that suppressor must be on the form. You have done everything you need to do up to this point.
Guess that answers my question... I'll wait for an email either from my dealer or from SS. I know the dealer said when they received the suppressor, they'd send me an email.

Man, first time through this is certainly a learning process...

Looks like a pin that has been milled down to be even with the block. I couldn't see a slot or opening for any kind of tool to unscrew it. I'm sure XDman has seen the gas block on this. Maybe he'll read this and chime in...
For the hell of it, I went ahead and changed the barrel nut to the barrel nut that the hand guard came with. Again, this is on my Saint Victor Pistol. It is very simple to remove the gas block. All you need is the right size punch and a small hammer. The pin popped right out, and the gas block comes right off the front of the barrel. I took the old nut off and put the new nut on (proper grease and barrel nut torque). Then re-installed the gas block using the same pin. It really was a breeze.

I just remembered that the transfer of an NFA item to an NFA dealer requires an approved Form 3 which is a tax exempt transfer for dealer to dealer.

Thanks!! I'll have to give it a try. Out of curiosity, it looks like another pin on the bottom. Is that not a thing? It's just the pin that goes horizontally through the block?

Here's the handguard I'm probably getting.

You only have to remove the pin on the bottom. The gas tube can stay mounted. Be cautious though. It is a tapered pin. It will only come out one way. If you cant tell which end it is, use a caliper to measure the two ends. Once removed the block and tube will move forward easily as the tube is not pinned to the upper in any way.

Good choice on the hand guard too. It should work nicely!

Got it. It's obvious which end is the tapered end. I was mistaking a mark on the very bottom of the block as a pin. It's not, it's just a mark. Doesn't seem too hard to do. Thanks!

Wound up buying the Micro 30. Now it's just the long ATF wait. Pretty much sucks this process takes so long.

This suppressor will work fine with my 300 BLK upper. I've got to do some maneuvering with my Saint Victor pistol in 5.56. As you know, the blast diverter goes under the hand guard on this gun, so the suppressor won't fit in the current configuration. I've been told by multiple people not to use a barrel extension. My only other options are to either get a shorter hand guard - which I don't really want to do, I love the slim Victor hand guard - or get another barrel. I'm looking for an 8.5" 5.56 barrel. I've only found 2. One from Bear Creek Arsenal and one from PSA. I'm leaning against the Bear Creek. Mixed reviews and it is a Parkerized barrel, which I'm not big on. Maybe it's fine, but I'd prefer Melonite/Nitride. The PSA is out of stock, and it is a Nitride finish. I've got some time, so for now I'm going to wait for the PSA barrel to come in stock. Hopefully it's a decent barrel...
@uspatriot1960 You ever end up getting yours?

I called the NFA division of the ATF today and found out my Tax Stamp was approved on 10/24/22.

Of course my FFL is closed from 11/10 to 11/28 so i'm stuck waiting until after thanksgiving, but hey atleast I know i'll have it in a week and a half.

From the time the ATF cashed my check (12/9/21) to the stamp approval (10/24/22) my wait was: 348 days.

Nope. Still waiting on my Micro 30 that was certified on 3/7. And I have another certified on 4/19. I’ve given up hope.

Glad you got yours though. This NFA process is just stupid. No way it should take as long as it does.
