We just had a windshield replaced. Cash price $410. Bill for the insurance company $695. No cost replacement as part of our insurance coverage.at least "one of a few things" i know is that, here and most likely many other states??, the doctors office submits a claim for services, be it a regular office visit, or a procedure.
there is a "list" for the lack of a better description, that the insurance companies (Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and another one, United Health Care, and a few others, WILL PAY, and the doctors office WILL ACCEPT....now, can anyone be billed the balance..??
absolutely, but in all my years, i have yet to be back-billed.
and if i were to be back-billed, they will accept what ever monthly payments i send them.
i "think" the office billing dept, "pads" all visits and procedures, knowing full well they will at least get "as much as possible" from the insurance companies.
here in lies at least one issue in the medical profession.....malpractice insurance.......the cost of that (i was told by my retiring doctor years ago, is just astronomical.
lawyers make sure each and every time to sue a doctor, or hospital at any "gone wrong" event.
which can be understandable, but here too, there should be a "cap" on the payment to the person.
The faster I go, the behinder I get.he needs that "special lube" we old people use to go faster.
