What are you doing right now??

Coffee and breakfast. Maggies bowel is ready for her. Had a great day yesterday. Drove back a 24 Ford bronco from auction. Nice to drive a newer vehicle when you have a 3.5 hour trip back. Wife said the husky missed me and what a greeting when I got back home! Well, nothing planned for today except spending time with my buddy.

Getting ready to go to the second visitation in 2 days. Went to the first one last night and now again this morning.

The first was the wife of a farmer who I threw many bales of hay for as a kid and helped him with various other operations when I was able to as I got older.

The second is a man who I worked under at a welding shop. He was only a couple years older then me but was a good boss.

Getting old sucks.

My very first binary trigger install..Piece of cake.

Slept late again. Well, 8AM is late for me. Anyway, it's too damn cold to be outside...was -10 when I got up and it's only -7 when I last checked a couple of minutes ago (we won't talk about the windchill :cautious:) . The husband went to Fargo to have some maintenance done on the diesel (the block heater is acting funky, plus he needed the usual oil and transmission stuff done). I have been hankering really bad for a fire, but it's too breezy, it's dry and there's not enough snow left to prevent sparks from catching. The guys had beers in the garage last night instead (it's heated). Maybe I'll join them tonight...in the meantime I'm gathering the ingredients together to make a venison meatloaf for supper. Then, perhaps some MantisX..

Switched the press and loaded some 9mm. I'm trying to rest up my back now.... I must have bent over too much. I did find some 9 mm plastic ammo boxes on a shelf and loaded them up. I tested a few rounds in the new Kimber and they're good to go. Retirement party soon, so I think I'll get a sandwich. Ham, ham or ham. I think I'll make a ham sandwich.

Went to my folks to make sure the snowblower would run. It won't. Got home and tried both of my generators. Neither will run. I am absolutely sick to F'ing death of spending shite tons of money on generators and other implements with small engines and having to repeatedly rebuild carbs and have them serviced and end up taking them out back and blowing the F out of them with a shotgun.

We went full on diesel on all our ATV's, mower, truck and tractor, and emergency generator for that reason. If I could have diesel chainsaws I would

i have bought the Toro brand for many years..i have a very good Toro dealer, but his store sells many other brands as well...he's been in the small engined equipment game for decades.

he had told me several things lead up to "no starts" or carb rebuildings.

1) is that many people store thier equipment for the next season, with gas in the carb...that is ok, if one uses fuel stabilizers. otherwise, the gas goes bad, or evaporates, and gums up the carb.

2) another issue is that ethanol mix in many gasolines. that stuff over time, eats thru the fuel lines..i know that to be true, i personally replaced ALL the gas lines in ALL my snow removal machines and my mini garden tiller. so i buy gasoline with none of that......

3) however, i still buy and mix a chemical that "counteracts??" the effects of that ethanol crap, by the chance i cannot find gasoline with out it, when i need to buy gas NOW.

4) this is why i buy my gasoline and mix up the gas cans (with 2 cycle oil too if its for those machines) by at least the Thanksgiving Day weekend, as to not be caught empty handed if a storm comes sooner, rather than later.

5) that fuel line when it goes bad from that ethanol, has broken/cracked at the nipples at each end from the tanks to the carbs, since at those 2 locations, is where it is stretched at the factor to fit the nipples. so its either sucking in air, or leaking.

6) another issue too, is the "primer" button, that rubber boot just goes bad, or the nipple on the backside, just breaks.

i had to replace 2 of those...got 1 more machine that has a primer to replace when needed.

This is a Snapper they got when my mom's brother died a couple months ago. The primer button was definitely on my list of suspects. The machine had no fuel in it when they got it. I can't find ethanol free gasoline anywhere near me. I would be interested in an additive to counter it for sure.

Every time I drain or run the fuel out of a machine it fails to start in the spring. I generally leave fuel in it, mix in some Sta-bil and run it a little bit before I shut it down. My newest generator I somehow inherited between all the real estate action of the last year and a half ( I bought the house next door to me and ended up with a lot of the widow's dead husband's stuff. So again, no idea what's up with it other than the only way it will run is if I am continually spraying ether in it. My other generator, the on/off switch broke last year. I had to pull the plug wire to shut it off. That one is a Coleman and has never failed me for years. Until today. I'm not sure if theres a problem with the switch or if it's the carb or what.

i cannot recall the name of the ethanol product, but i got it at either Auto Zone, or Advanced Auto, it was in the ..fuel additives section. the one i bought was blue in color, in a clear bottle

most likely any "jets" in the carb is/are plugged up, since basically you are bypassing them as you spray into the carb, and could even be a stuck float, maybe the float pin fell out, or if equipped, needle valve....i think some may even have a diaphragm valve, that could be torn, or eaten thru by the ethanol

that one may have to be rebuilt, or of course, if really bad...replaced. but dang tiny carbs are expensive too.

most if not all ignition systems are "electronic"/magneto, but i did have a snow thrower that i had to change out the points/condenser.....that was a great machine

i haven't changed spark plugs in years, i bought those E3 plugs...at Lowes,
