What are you doing right now??

Hi,

Hey Bob! Please share your fun with us! I'm glad you've got a day off. Have a blast! ;)

I've grown to LOVE Friday fish fry since moving here to the Wild Wild Upper Midwest. Unfortunately I did not get my fish fry yesterday due to my Mom-in-law's visit. I'm going to try and sneak one in for supper this evening.

For now, I've just finished my morning workout, having a cup of coffee, then I'll get cleaned up and to looking for a new suit of clothes. I need some "fancy" dinner clothes for our Alaskan cruise coming up in a couple of weeks. Mrs. BassCliff is really looking forward to our trip. Plus, I get to smoke a cigar with Sebastian Gorka. ;)

I hope and pray Mr. @belladonna and Mrs. @Jester560 are on the mend and feeling better.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

I leave all that stuff to you guys Cliff. My targets are nothing to write home about buddy. I can put them all in a 6" circle at 15 yards pretty quickly from draw, that's about the extent of my pistol skills.

I will share a few thoughts about my session this morning. I went with my jarhead buddy Bill. I took my best AR and my Masada. Bill brought his BCA A2, his Taurus GX4 or whatever the hell it's called and his Turkish 20 gauge coach gun.

For my part I have to say this freakin' Masada is an amazing little pistol. I spent my time doing mostly transitions from AR (slung) to the Masada ( AIWB). Both of these guns are more accurate than I am. I was drilling 6" steel plates from 15 and 25 yards with the little Israeli gun and 10" steel at 50 and 100 yards with the 16" Wilson Combat. I didn't miss many. No timer but I was not wasting much time. Enough so that the guys on the range next to us stopped to watch me when I was shooting. I wasn't moving or anything though so those dudes are just easily impressed I think.

Bill on the other hand had a few issues. For starters he is still trying to run out his stock of the Russian steel cased crap he shoots out of his AR. I think this trip might have broke him of that bad habit though. He had many FTE starting about his second mag. He was taking it apart and looking at his extractor and blah, blah, blah. I took his gun from him, beat the casing out of the chamber with a steel rod I had the foresight to bring, then took his BCG, lubed it, put it back together and handed him two mags of Lake City 193. The gun ran flawlessly and he was punishing the 100 yard steel gong. His little Taurus ran perfectly and he shoots it pretty well so no surprises there. He put a few boxes of target loads through his coach gun though and at least 4 times the second round/trigger failed to fire. He'd reload then it would fire. I was sorta preoccupied while this was going on and didn't think to ask him to check the primers. I just texted him and haven't heard back. I suspect there was a dent on the unfired shells. Again justifying my disdain for Turkish effing' shotguns. I know he spent almost 6 beans for this gun and it is his HD shotgun. For a combat marine/armorer he sure is a dumbass about some things.

Anyhow, I got home about noon and Bill split. I cleaned my guns while listening to The Melvins then spent the next 3 hours down on the river bank with a weed eater. My wife came back from screwing around at flea markets with her brother's wife and brought me my father's day gift. Which I love. It was a steal at $80. I have a thing for weather vanes. And maps. No clue why I just do.

Fantastic! Nice day at the range. Happy Father's Day!

Ya know, 6" groups at 15 and 25 yards is nothing to sneeze at. I'm still working my way out to 25 yards. I'm hoping for 6" groups. ;) Thanks for sharing your day with us.

Go Ford!

Ford Mustang GT3s take 3rd (podium) and 4th in the LMGT3 Class, both on the final lap of the first two places.

Only beat by a 911 (1st), one lap up, and a Bimmer (same lap)

Nearest Corvette was 11th, 2 laps down from them, after that the nearest 13 laps down in 15th.

The third Mustang had issues & finished 17th in Class.

The top Mustangs beat out the GT3 Lambie's, Ferrari's, McLaren's, Aston Martin's, Lexus's and the remaining 911's.

A VERY wet 2024 Le Mans this year.

Final check of all my range gear and weapons. Dept. Quals start tomorrow and run all week. If those guys only knew how much planning and prep goes into teaching\running qualifications and all the gear I have to haul. Plus they all seem to forget that I am there usually 2 hours before them and 2 hours after each day. On a good note weather is supposed to be sunny and high in the 90's each day so off for sleep I go soon. Getting ready though for the last minute calls to complain about something or another.
