Where’s the Ammo!!!!!

I have been super busy at work. Its hard to shoot out in the pouring rain and trying to hit wind blowing 8" round target a 600yds. The good is I see a guy shooting paper targets at 100yds with M855a1 and I had to ask why is he using that ammo on paper. He reply by saying it the only ammo he had and that he didnt like the way it shoots. So I offer to trade him my 5.56 Winchester Q3131 for his M855A1. IMO Q3131 5.56 is the best ammo for target shooting. After shooting some we made the trade. I pick up 510 rds of M855A1 for a case of Q3131 500rd. We both was very happy.

I just scored 8 boxes of Remington UMC 120gr .300blk at Bass Pro for $16.99 a box and I also picked up 3 boxes 240gr .300blk Cor-Bon subsonic off a local guy for $40 for all 3 boxes (killer deal) a couple weeks ago.

I'll just add this new ammo to the pile...😜

I need to buy a box of good 40 Cal S&W Hollowpoint rounds for home defense. I've been looking online a bit at prices but still unsure which is the best bang for my buck if you know what I mean. What's the best site for ammo?

I don't know about reasonable price but it's here

Not a 40 S& W shooter so not sure if it's the config you want. I like G2 ammo!

Other than pricing not coming back down much, I'm seeing a lot of improvement in available factory ammo around my area. Generally speaking there seems to be at least some choices in most calibers, and lots and lots of .223/5.56mm.

Prices across the board are still pretty ugly, but at least it's available. Not much in the way of re-loading components yet though. I am seeing some brass and bullets, a little more powder, but still little to no primers for small pistols.

I’m seriously getting annoyed with the lack of availability in Ammo. I love to shoot on the weekends and I’m cutting back more and more because I can’t replace Ammo and when I can it’s ridiculously overpriced!! Last year there were tons of Black Friday Federal Black Pack deals and this year you have to sell your kidney to buy a 1000 rounds of 5.56! Ugh!
I suppose it depends on what you want.I buy from ammunition depot.some 5.56 & lots of 2.23. 5.56 from 69 cents a round to over $1.00 per round. 223 from 53 cents a round. They have always been good delivering.

Made an ammo run this afternoon. Beautiful day and didn’t want to sit at home. Went to Sportsman’s Warehouse in Chambersburg, PA. It’s been rather frustrating as Sportsman’s has had a limit on the number of boxes purchased at one time. I was just casually reviewing their website and discovered the limits were gone. That prompted an ammo run this afternoon!

Bought 2 - 250 round mega packs of Remington 9mm 115 grain for $114.00/pack. Also bought a 175 round pack of Winchester 5.56 - 55 grain for $109.00; and 2 - 20 round boxes of Winchester 5.56 - 55 grain for $16.00/box. Still want to get more ammo because there are rumors about another ammo shortage. Also want to stock up because I want to leave my part time job by the end of Summer (I retired) a few years ago) and am tired of working.

Sounds like a good day

8-10m new gun owners. BBO (that's before you know who was elected) everything was hunky-dory in the ammo supply department and the 8 Billion rounds of all calibers the industry produced annually was sufficient to keep us all happy. Then wonky politics has everyone realizing the need to defend themselves. Well you know the rest.

As I mentioned earlier, I am seeing reports of another ammo shortage…soon to hit. Most places I’ve checked seemed “flush” with plenty of ammo but prices very high. This could have something to do with the dollar being devalued almost daily. But there might be another reason.

Components might be, again, in short supply. Once the inventory starts dropping then the supply dries up. It is only a matter of time.

Last year, I’d thought of getting into reloading my own ammo. I checked out presses, dies, materials and looking forward to getting set up. But I stopped…dead in tracks! There are four main components needed for reloading your own ammo…cases, projectiles, powder and primers. If any one, or more of those components is not available or in short supply, then you’re out-of-business. Getting cases and projectiles is usually not a problem. But primers and powder is another matter. Lately, finding/buying primers has been an issue. Powder is a “hit or miss” situation but generally is available. When it is found, the price is high…like ammo itself. But primers are another matter. I found that if a source has primers…then it is only a matter of hours when they’re sold out. Also, the prices for primers is in the stratosphere…when and if you can find them! Today, you’re limited as to the amount of primers you can buy at one time.

I’m sure the politicians and those gun grabber types are watching this situation as well. They don’t have to try and outlaw guns…which won’t happen!! All they have to do is reduce the availability of one or two key ammo components…and we’re done!!

Yeah it's a real bummer I have a pretty good stock pile of .308 but I'm always in the market for more ammo! A box of 100rnds of .308 at one of LGS is 169.00$!!! A 50rnd box of S&B 10mm Auto is $60.00!!! At the other LGS a 20rnd box of Federal Premium .308 168gr SMK is $50.00!!! That's why Iv'e been saving all my spent cartridge brass and been investing in reloading equipment lately. Now all I have to do is learn how to reload! 😫

I have noticed lately from some of the small independent producers notices of no ammo due to component shortages.
Certainly 8-10m new buyers a significant cause. I believe the industry is doing all it can to produce ammo
