Big Storm A Comin'

This past Saturday into Sunday where I live got almost 8 inches of snow. Where I work got a little over 5 inches. Believe it or not the roads where I work were worse. Today started the freezing rain on top of the snow pack and it's warming up so everyone worried about flooding issues. What I love about winter in Ne Pennsylvania is it seems like the first snow fall we get every year "EVERYONE" seems to forget how to drive in it. I had no issues but did many a crash report today and lots of assists to the towing companies hauling cars out of snow banks and ditches. Anyone here have their fellow drivers in their respective states "forget how to drive" in winter ?

Well, the storm petered out over the last hour. Had 5" maybe earlier, but it's so warm it's settling quickly...might be 3" of heavy crap. Did the driveway, had to clear the snowblower discharge every pass from sludge. I consider myself lucky that the first plowable snow is mid-January. C'mon spring....

I dislike 2 things:
Guess .. #1 is easy …😉

1) Turkey
2) ton of snow. I’ll take 105 over 25 all day every day. Seen enough snow to last a lifetime growing up. No thanks. Ya’ll keep it.
I’d like to be like Lexie.. barefoot, short sleeves.. watching the grass grow.🙂

I do remember snow in my younger years as I am Air Force brat.
I lived in Goose Bay Labrador CA, Wisconsin and Pennsylvanian and Virginia with some snow and even a few times in Fort Benning GA. we had some snow.

Now I can fully appreciate the visual of tonnes of snow and such on the TV and maybe a short vacation in snow but I much prefer to live in a warmer climate.

Northern Maine… south of ‘Boring Loring’ AFB. Circa 1979. Our driveway … routinely snowed enough in winter at some point to go near the first floor windows.

That pic is just after a large front end loader was hired to “dig out” the 1/2 mile driveway
This was the “after pic”… it snowed enough to fill it all back in 😱😱

You can see how high the snow is up the telephone pole for reference

Hi,

This was my day. Here's the view before:

And here it is after shoveling and salting the driveway and "de-snowing" my truck:

It's 27° right now. We're expecting a little more snow tonight then lots more snow Thursday night into Friday. Saturday it starts going sub-zero. This California boy is loving the cold weather. High/low for Sunday - 2°/-12°, Monday - 0°/-11°, Tuesday - 1°/-6°. I think I'll wear two pair of socks. ;) I'll bet the Northern Plains states have it even better, I mean worse. :ROFLMAO:

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

I grew up in the Midwest and those epic snowstorms were a common occurrence. After 3 tours in SEA, and 2 tours in California, I developed a preference for warmer climates. Working in the PD in Ohio, the blizzard of 79 was the last straw. We moved to Florida and had a little ceremony where we destroyed the snow shovel that somehow got into our U-Haul. In the past 44 years we have seen a few days of freezing temps and snow flurries but that is just enough to kill the 'skeeters off.
