I find the overall handling of this to be a Gigantic Cluster...Being over 60 and having an already stressed immune system I would like accurate scientific/medical facts not hunches...surely people can see we have been misinformed by all elected officials

Its probably not much worse then the flu which takes quite a bit of lives in the US each year. I guess it still isn't good to have another contagious illness floating around just as if not worse than the flu to double our chances of getting sick.

So far, 16,000 people have died and 280,000 people have been hospitalized during the 2019-2020 flu season, according to preliminary estimates from the CDC.

Agree on the Flu Stats. The way I see it, Corona is more volatile than the Flu plus flu season hasn't ended. It appears we are stuck in the mud and extraction isn't near.

I was planning on a trip back east to visit family which in includes a mom bearing down on 90.

I have to go through 3 airports to get there & who knows what person(s) in an airport of thousands may have that bug and sneezing. It could land on me and then I drop it off at her place. I'm tough enough still to survive but she isn't.

Her health is always on a knife edge so I told her I'd postpone the trip back until fall when all of this will hopefully be behind us.

Better be safe than sorry.

Yeah but who's looking forward to now?

I don't know of anyone who is looking forward to dying but there is no way to stop it from happening when your time is up. Yes , there are things we can do to help further our life span such as looking both ways before crossing the street or NOT stepping into the path of a semi on the interstate .

Just like Talyn's family member who is almost 90 , I am at very high risk should I contract this new virus due to having COPD and being on oxygen already. Am I going to push my luck by hanging out with someone who I know has this corona virus , no I am not.

I stand by my statement that we are all going to " die of something " whether it be old age or a limb falling out of a tree.

Heres an interesting article

Can‘t wait for the Russian follow up of a shirtless Putin riding a horse holding a sword and jumping off to wrestle a Siberian tiger with the word “Coronavirus“ spray painted on it’s side. All this before breakfast & then off to play hockey & score 20 goals single handedly. The article will go on to say that Putin has this all under control as usual.

Ohio just announced its first three confirmed cases a few hours ago.

It'll be interesting to see what happens from here.

I overheard the local supermarket floor manager talking to the patron in front of me as he stepped in to offer bagging help. Like me, I gathered from her inquiries to him that she also doesn't usually shop on Monday afternoons after work/school - she wanted to know if it was always this crowded on Mondays at this time. He replied that it shouldn't be, but that it's been increasingly this way since as coronavirus started to dominate the news stateside.

I was also at this same supermarket last week - same as this week, I'd forgotten a couple of things that were "off-list," and had to double back. I had chatted with a cashier friend whom I've known for over a decade, and while she had not mentioned coronavirus or COVID-19 as the reason, she had at the time mentioned that over the last month or so, weeknights after work/school have been increasingly busy.

@jmcd I'm sure you already heard but if not Massachusetts is declaring a state of emergency for Corona virus.

I feel the lib states are all going to fall in line with this declaration to try and paint Trump in a bad light with the Corona virus.
We have over 17,000 traffic accidents DAILY in the US resulting in 95 DEATHS on average.
Corona Virus has a lot of catching up to do..... yet it's an emergency!

Corona Virus is just a political game the Dems are playing. Trump will be impeached over it I'm sure.

Just received word today from the Spurs they will be making changes for upcoming games and will make further determinations. I thought Mass. had a Rep Governor.

Maybe the world's governments are treating the Corona virus quarantines as a dry run for a potentially more threatening future virus.

They did indeed. I was just talking with the wife the other night about everyone is going to switch to "virtual meetings" via webex and conference calling. Sure enough, Harvard University is not having students return after spring break. No physical classes. MIT, UMass Amherst, Suffolk, Tufts and a host of others have jumped on the bandwagon. All classes will be done online and anyone staying on campus will have to be cleared as to why they need to be there.and have very limited access on campus. So it begins...
