Mass Shooting in Maine

"The Cards have lived in Bowdoin for generations, neighbors said, and various members of the family own hundreds of acres in the area. The family owned the local sawmill and years ago donated the land for a local church." It is a shame the family name has to bear this burden. Unless they knew about his illness and chose to do nothing.

COLION NOIR: The irony is Maine is considered the second-safest state in the country. And they also are considered one of the most pro-gun states in the country. The thing is, though, when you live in a very safe environment, sometimes we get lulled into complacency. And when we think that we're safe because we feel safe, which doesn't necessarily mean you are safe. And then when you start to realize that, you know, maybe I should have a firearm, it usually happens when it's too late. And so that's why you have individuals now saying, well, now there's a manhunt going on and the police don't know where he is. And now you're at home, you don't have a firearm, and you have no means to protect yourself, and neither can the police because they're too busy looking for the guy. So that's the one thing that I've always tried to hammer onto people with respect to the Second Amendment. It's there to give you the ability to protect you and your family and I just wish that people would understand that. But because of the semantics and the games that the left likes to play with respect to the Second Amendment, they fall into this belief system that nobody needs a firearm. Until you do and then at that point, it's too late.

i was watching tv, in fact, i was switching from Fox to CNN regarding the war..then the news broke.....

when i heard that i yelp out",,"good, great news" and gave 2 thumbs up...the wife came in the room and asked what i was so happy about....

she agreed, best he die now, than the tax payers have to house and take care of him forever....and the possibility of escaping.

This would have not happened if the stupid laws they already have in place would have been followed. They pass stupid laws and then don't enforce them unless it is convenient for them. Also shame on the Army-- they knew he had a problem and just let him out to roam around among us.

oh brother, don't get caught with a magazine of large capacity...they will throw the book at someone...

but let out a mental nut case.......and no one accepts responsibility for it

i think the laws should be changed to include prosecuting the doctor(s) that examined the mental people, if they let them go....rather than holding them longer.

hopefully the army guard in Maine takes a look at how, what and when. it was reported they sent him to in patient brain shrink, after his threat to shoot up the armory.. my question is did the guard follow up and ensure his in patient brain shrinking was documented to ncic. again it was reported, family was worried about him?? not sure what or how that would factor other than they did try or not try??? cant say and cant blame them either
it was reported a person he knew drove him from boat dock to the recycle place...did they person let police know as soon as he or she found out he was wanted? if not, that person could be an after the fact accessory ??? oh crap bananas
granted he already owned (by reports) firearms and may have purchased a new one or so right before his deed to kill his ex girlfriend and take other lives

say a prayer for the families and souls of the murdered.

the way "i see it".....

1) he bought guns, when, i could care less, he had them.

2) he went seeking out an ex-girlfriend at the first place?

3) he went seeking someone at the second place? same person, different person???

4) he ran away

5) he called someone for a ride from the boat dock.? (that's new to me)

6) seems to me he had his faculties about him enough to "know what, where, when" to do his killing spree..

7) maybe the mental health issue was a concocted rouse, to gain sympathy for him...???? as in to "get away with the killings"..???

either way, a mass MURDERER is DEAD.

now, this so-called "other person"...grill the SOB for answers.....grill him/her till he/she breaks.

One of the problems with our military is that they tend to think of themselves as separate from the civilian population. If they have a problem soldier they want to handle it "in house" rather than involve outsiders. This thinking proved to be a major mistake in this instance. Frankly, military doctors never impressed me much anyway.

I really get tired of these kinds of news stories and usually just briefly keep an eye out for when they are captured or killed. The reason being ... you can read different news stories after stories about how and why this happened ... and you'll still know no more than what you can guess happened for many reasons. But we all know you probably will never hear all the truth or correct facts.

What I do know and this tragic event again proves is that the police can't be everywhere and most likely won't be there when these tragedies unfold ... so it is up to the people to be prepared, as best you can, to defend yourself at all times. In this case there simply was no one armed to even try to stop him. I prefer to hear stories about those that have successfully defended themselves and others. Everyone being armed makes much sense than everyone being unarmed since it is impossible to eliminate every single gun, especially from the bad guys.

They can't control illegal gun possession from those with mental problems or keep illegal guns from criminals anymore than they can stop illegal drug trafficking that has been promised for decades.
