I can give you several reasons…first being, it’s a very rare defensive gun incident that involves 17 rounds…or even 8.

Second—a nightstand pistol is, imho, the very last-ditch choice for home defense.

Those are reasons why more rounds might not be needed, or even most likely won't be needed, but they are not reasons why more would be bad, why you shouldn't have more.

Additionally:

A revolver is a lot harder to choke due to an improper grip, which could easily occur if one had to literally “grab it and GO”—that is, snatch it off the nightstand and immediately shoot, one handed, quite possibly while still lying in bed or in some other position besides the range-perfect, modified iso shooting stance.

Always felt in a sleepy stupor, accidents can happen. Fumbling for glasses, fuzzy eyed and dazed, aside from trying to assess any loud noises, my back and knee joints need a moment to cooperate. Keeping the bedroom door locked allows an extra couple seconds to adjust - nobody in the household is going to be forcing it open.

Tip: Nightstand guns are not like alarm clock radios, don’t leave them there like permanent fixtures.

As I have said earlier my Wife and I do not have children although my 2 German shepherds are kids so therefore since we do not have to worry about small people locating or getting into our firearms, we have loaded weapons in every room and if things suddenly go bump or comes into one of my doors or entry ways, whatever is closest to me is the weapon I'm grabbing whether it be an AR, shotgun or handgun whatever is closest to me is what I'm grabbing.

One should use the firearm they are the most proficient with. Period.

You’ll most likely have family or neighbors to consider when firing off rounds from the bedroom gun.
Especially if you live in an apartment.
Both home situations need to consider if you miss, did you just kill Joe&Jane next door or your family member in the other bedroom.

Well, since we have expounded beyond the nightstand then and are referring to shower guns, trash can guns, gun lamps, refrigerator guns and the like, my answer would have to be changed slightly. So to answer the question " What kind of gun do you use for HD" my answer is yes.
