What are you doing right now??

Not a damn thing... just finished mowing my place but weed whacker is charging. So kicked back contemplating a limeade and Bombay slushie that Bassbob introduced me to.

last 6 days..working on the new loft in the RV garage 10x12
to be used to move all the STUFF from the other loft and then that loft becomes the alternate entry into the main house bedroom
so new stairs and some walls and flooring , and tv, and stuff soon
will post pics in a few days
as being half broken it takes me longer, but we worked smart and used the hoist to lift the doubled beams up the 8 feet, then attached them to the posts
hardest part so far is drilling into the 20 year old slab to get some red heads in
but i can safely say 2x8 x12 and 2x8x10s and 3/4 play decking seem to have gained weight since i used them last a decade ago.

Yah, 289 and a C4. It's my non-firearm hobby. One of my non-firearm related hobbies. ;)

That is a very nice looking car you have. I love seeing the old iron.

Do you mind telling the specifics of what you have in that great engine ? I had a 1973 Comet GT that I modified . I used springs , 4 speed tranny , 9" posi with 31 spline axels from a 1969 Torino Cobra. The 302 got balanced , installed a Crane cam and kit ( lifters and springs ) 236 degrees at .50" and .515 lift , 351 windsor heads , original Edelbrock torker intake , headers and 780 Holley carb.

Those little engines run with the right parts in them.

disclaimer
i am no way finished with safety railings and have to put ceiling fan back up, but with a very short rod
i did get the wiring done under the new parts for a fan and LED light, etc
hopefully after the rest day today i can get back after the big stuff this week

one note of GOOD , i ordered 99% of the stuff i needed from lowes at around 7 am, at 9 am i got an email it was ready to pick up
i arrived at lowes around 940 ish and had to pick up a few little items , i wanted to PICK myself
i go to the pick up desk and a very helpful lady let me pay for my stuff i had just picked up and then printe dout my online order and gave me the guys name in pro pick up which is not anywhere near the lumber check out
so i walk down to lumber and the guy is waiting for me, he says pull up near the side, vice under the driveway awning
.

so i go get the truck and trailer and pull up where he directed
out he comes with a helper and a forklift, took about 3 minutes and i was set, just had to tie it down
WOW what a pain-free easy adventure
i am hooked, next lumber order i will use the pro pick up route online easy as falling off a log

2nd batch
i was going to build the platform on the ground then lift it with the chain hoist to correct height
but stringing the chain across 26 feet to get the hoist over the center proved to be structurally not wise.
so we laid in one stringer at a time .

Well it's a rescue.... I wanted a car for my son and I to rebuild together. He picked this after finding it on Craigslist. He now drives a 1972 VW Super Beetle. I am now a VW beetle mechanic who is also a classic Ford mechanic. Sorry, back on track.

This is not a muscle car by any stretch, but it's my muscle car. The power train is an almost stock 289/C4 set up. The transmission was rebuilt within a year of my buying it; the reverse gear went completely out.

The only things I have done to the engine? Last year after a drive on the interstate the factory carb, an Autolite 2100(?), began to give me issues. In lieu of having it rebuilt I dove in and swapped it out the top end. It is now breathing through an Edelbrock 1403 500 cfm electric choke carb sitting on a Jegs Champion aluminum intake. Obviously you cannot put an aluminum intake on a car and not have chrome valve covers.

I am getting some oil burn/smoke when it starts up. I'm thinking that is the heads and not the cylinders. Here is where I'm a little torn. Do I go with better heads or do I just have mine refurbished?

The rear end is a stock 8" with a 3.00:1 gear ratio. The only thing power I have is the steering; drums at all four corners.

I've got to spend some time on the interior before I dig into the engine more and am looking at electronic ignition. Also the single exhaust sounds decent but am looking to add headers and dual exhaust at some point.
