In Canada they are called "runners", but when I lived in upstate NY we called them "sneaks".

I grew up on a dairy farm in the upper Midwest. I remember a lot of these phrases. But there is one my dad used to use a lot. And now I find myself using it all the time. "It'll put hair on your chest!".
